Ross Dammann

Assistant Vice Chancellor for the Office of Contract and Grant Administration (OCGA)

Ross Dammann is the Assistant Vice Chancellor for the Office of Contract and Grant Administration (OCGA), at UC San Diego. Under his leadership, Ross oversees a unit that reviews and formally submits over $5B in proposals each year, resulting in total award obligations exceeding $1B each of the last 13 years. He is responsible for the strategic leadership of contract and grant operations, ensuring UC San Diego's sponsored research portfolio complies with federal, state, and university requirements, and provides effective stewardship over the solicitation, negotiation, and acceptance of sponsored project funding received by UC San Diego. 

Ross has held a number of different positions since joining UC San Diego in 2013, including Health System Performance Management Analyst, Health Sciences Business Intelligence, and Managing Director of Operations for OCGA. Ross is an experienced strategic leader with broad domain expertise, integrating innovative management techniques and operational excellence by leveraging people, processes, and technology to drive efficiency and improve the customer experience. He has successfully led project teams and functional areas for over 10 years, across multi-functional departments within UC San Diego, within the industry/private sector, and as part of consulting firms working with large Fortune 1000 companies.

Ross received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Oregon. He received his Master of Education from the University of Southern California, his MBA from UC Irvine, and is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
