To help researchers understand and comply with applicable federal, state, local and university regulations, UC San Diego offers a variety of online and in-person training opportunities. If your job requires you to have vivarium access you must attend Orientation to Animal Research at UCSD.

Conflict of Interest

Conflict of Interest for Designated Officials

UCSD Designated Officials*, Researchers and Staff who desire familiarity with California conflict of interest laws, applications and resources

*Designated official refers to an officer or employee who is covered by the disclosure and disqualification provisions of the University of California’s Conflict of Interest Code. Generally, persons holding these positions are so identified because they have the authority to make significant financial decisions on the University's behalf that could also affect their personal outside finances.

This class is intended for UCSD researchers, principal investigators, other researchers, as well as their departmental or ORU administrative staff who assist them with their research endeavors. This class is also for the UCSD employee who would like to learn about conflict of interest.

Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP)

Bloodborne Pathogens-Annual Refresher

Required for workers* prior to beginning work with  human blood, human blood components, products made from human blood, human body fluids, unfixed human tissue or organs, human cell lines, animals with human xenografts, blood borne  pathogens, or other potentially infectious materials.

*Medical Center health care providers have location specific training.  Contact the Medical Center Safety Office, (619) 543-7575, for more information.



Iodine Safety

Laser Safety Training

ALL who work with class 3b or 4 lasers or laser systems

Laser safety training is required of laser operators and maintenance service personnel. Laser safety training is recommended for personnel working with class 1, 2, and 3a laser systems containing embedded class 3b or 4 lasers.
