Description:
A full-time postdoctoral position is available at UC San Diego, in the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow to join our laboratory. We are interested in structure-function studies of protein complexes involved in transcription regulation and DNA repair process using a combination of x-ray crystallography, biochemical, and biophysical techniques.



Salary/Stipend Information:
NIH Scale rate

Skills and Knowledge Required:
Successful candidates should have received a Ph.D. degree in structural biology, biophysics, biochemistry, chemistry, or related discipline within 5 years. Applicants with strong background in cloning and expression of recombinant protein in bacterial, yeast or insect cell systems, large-scale protein purification, macromolecular crystallization and structure determination are preferred. Applicants with a strong background in protein and nucleic acids biochemistry are particularly encouraged to apply. Good written and oral communication skills are essential.

BioBridge Mentorship Director

Description:
The BioBridge mentorship director is an integral position to all operations related to developing the communication, leadership, pedagogy and support network related to the BioBridge undergraduate and graduate students, teachers and secondary school student audiences. This position requires a well-rounded set of skills in science and communication, pedagogy, management, networking, organization and teamwork. Specifically they will be responsible to: (1) mentor/support graduate student Socrates Fellows to effectively interface in high school classrooms and develop novel curriculum based on their research; (2) provide guidance to Socrates teacher liaisons to support their graduate student partners (3) co-lead an undergraduate service learning course geared to groom UCSD students to effectively serve as community leaders, positively impacting the BioBridge secondary school audience; (4) interface with BioBridge community outreach efforts by supporting teacher training and after school science interest groups.

TBD, based on UC postdoc salary scale
